Many of you are like me, wanting to live as green as possible and it infuses your everyday life in some small or big way.
And then.. house time. Although we’ve come a long way, eco friendly building/renovating isn’t yet mainstream and there is no ’sustainable building’-guide fit for a modern life.
If you google ’sustainable house’ you pretty much find:
A). The cool, dedicated people who left their day-jobs, rolled up their sleeves and built a 100% environmentally friendly (often really rad) home, pretty much on their own. Ps. If that’s you, high-fives!
B). The huge, million dollar, architectural house sculptures that ends up in flashy magazines. Complete with the latest most posh-looking (and pricey) eco friendly systems.
I don’t know about you but I do not fit into either of those categories (and the local county government would never ever approve blue-prints any bit out of the ordinary). I’m thinking it’s time to make a new category.
C). Eco conscious building/renovating for modern people on a busy schedule. People with a desire to use non-toxic, sustainable materials as much as possible while maintaining a contemporary lifestyle and without breaking the bank.
You in?
So with high standards (both aesthetcs- and sustainability-wise), two crammed schedules, two young kids and a budget that doesn’t allows for All Of The Things, where does this leave us? Let start this adventure and see!
It’s a wild ride and it’s gonna get rough, fun and unexpected. There will be breakthroughs and there will be some disappointment but I also know that in the end, there will be a friggin’ amazing home that cares for the earth and it’s inhabitants. A Wildlyh Home.
If you’re the curious kind (I know I am) SUBSCRIBE and I’ll pop by your inbox with some fun bi-weekly updates on the building process and my best tips + resources. Check out @WILDLYH on Instagram for daily process snaps and then.. have a wildlyh gorgeous day!
